-Ed Viesturs, 1996 IMAX expedition Additional Source MaterialEverest (1998)Source: Everest. Dir. David Breashears. Perf. Liam Neeson. Miramax Home Entertainment ;, 1998. HD-DVD.
Significance: This David Breashers IMAX documentary came out two years after the tragedy and at about the same time as Jon Krakauer's book. Notice how his story has a slightly different narrative thread than Into Thin Air. How does this change your understanding of the event? The above video is not the complete documentary, but a series of 12 clips from the film that will play one after another. Frontline: Storm Over Everest (2008)Source: Storm over Everest. Dir. David Breashears. WGBH Boston Video, 2008.
Dr. Ken Kamler Remembers 1996 Everest Disaster (Presentation)Source: Dr. Ken Kamler Remembers 1996 Everest Disaster. Dir. Ken Kamler. Perf. Ken Kamler. FORA.tv, 2008. Film.
Significance: This shows a somewhat informal, personal and informational account of the tragic 1996 Everest disaster. Like an essay, this presentation provides a single voice and perspective (other than Jon Krakauer's) on the expedition, with a focus on the story of Beck Weathers. |
