What is the Holocaust? The Holocaust is the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of approximately 6 million Jews by the Nazi regime and their collaborators between 1933 - 1945. Roma (Gypsies), physically and mentally disabled people and Poles were also targeted for destruction or decimation for racial, ethnic, or national reasons.
